Complex. Many different ways that can drive you crazy if you want to learn about!

That is so true! I mean just looking at the asexual reproductive system of a fungi, there's reproduction via vegetative spores i.e. conidia, or with the mycelia fragmentation. Look at the fact that one thirds of fungi reproduce in more than one way!

My fellow members have provided nice information about the above topic, i would say fungi reproduction is quite complex to understand, it differs in their lifestyles and in their genetic make-ups. There are two types of productions : Asexual and Sexual reproduction.

I find mushrooms fascinating from so many points of view! What lenaanthony said is just one of them. They are spore-producing machines, either asexual or sexual. Some parasitic species have more than one host and complex life cycles.
The sexual and asexual stages of the same fungus were thought to be 2 different species, e.g. Claviceps purpurea/ Sphacelia segetum that causes ergot disease in flowers of rye and other cereals.

Asexual spores (conidia) produce individual mycelia that can grow on their own. Sexual spores can sometimes establish independent mycelia, but often a fusion with another mycelium is necessary before they continue to grow.

Fungi which are reproduced are nonmotile sexual and also asexual spores also. they are also microscopic in size. these are mostly considered as the common means of the reproduction matter.

Did you mean spores are microscopic?
