Satan's bolete is best identified by its orange or blood-red pores. Its stem also has a proeminent blood-red net pattern. The fruiting-bodies smell unpleasant when mature. They are poisonous and cause gastrointestinal problems. This bolete is widespread in southern Europe and forms mycorrhizae with deciduous trees (beech and oak).

This mushroom is commonly known as Devil's boletus mostly found in southern Europe or northern America. Its red color stem looks fascinating but contain highly dangerous poison in it.
