This shrub is native to the Mediterranean region, but widely cultivated for its aromatic foliage and its  spikes of lavender flowers. It is known as Chaste Tree, Chasteberry or Monk's Pepper.
I was lucky enough to take pictures of a white blooming cultivar, too.

In Africa this plant has many herbal uses. It has a potential to improve nutrition, enhance foot security. Its berries are considered as useful herb to improve productive system of both men and women.

In ancient times people believed this plant has an anaphrodisiac effect. That is why they called it Chaste tree.
